Secondary Deputy Headteacher and Deputy Whole School Safeguarding Lead
I am delighted to be entering my 3rd year as Secondary Deputy Headteacher at Star International School, Mirdif this academic year.
I graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc Hons in Business Management and then went on to achieve my PGCE and QTS at Nottingham Trent University. Last year, I achieved my NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership) and this academic year I will be embarking on my NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headteachers). I am very excited to also be a NPQ facilitator next year, supporting aspiring senior and middle leaders with their qualifications in the UAE. Prior to becoming an educator, I worked at Microsoft for 3 years as a marketing executive in London.
I have 13 years experience working in education and prior to moving to Dubai, I worked at academy schools in the UK. I have worked in the UAE in two outstanding schools within the last 10 years in various curriculum and pastoral leadership roles. I was pivotal in setting up vocational education pathways in both schools and I have a passion for supporting students to prepare for the world of work. Next year, I will continue to support Mr Allan in the strategic direction and growth of all aspects of the Secondary school. However, one of the projects I am very excited about leading is the development of our future pathways programme as part of the wider ISP schools group.
My educational philosophy is to ensure that all students are provided with pathways to help them achieve their very best. I believe that all students deserve every opportunity to succeed, be that in the classroom or the sports pitch. In addition, I remain deeply committed to ensuring all students receive excellent pastoral care to ensure they are happy and healthy.
In my spare time, both of my daughters (who also attend Star Mirdif) keep me very busy! I also enjoy visiting the sights of Dubai and traveling with my family.
