British Curriculum School in Dubai

Star International School, Mirdif, follows the National Curriculum for England; this is delivered by British qualified staff to students from Foundation Stage to Sixth Form. We opened our secondary section with Year 7 and Year 8 in 2019, and we now cater for children up to Year 12.  Our Sixth Form was launched in September 2023, with a full set of A-Level and BTEC options. We will expand into Year 13 in September 2024.

Teaching the British Curriculum through an innovative approach

The curriculum is taught through a very interesting and innovative themed approach which excites and inspires our young minds to:

  • Become curious about the world around them

  • Think critically about problems and issues which arise

  • Problem solve and become independent learners

  • Develop a sense of Awe and Wonder

Learning takes place inside and outside the classroom, with extensive extra-curricular activities, outdoors activities, excursions and education trips. Learning is not only academic - we provide many opportunities for our children to understand the social, emotional and cultural mechanisms that everyone needs to learn in order to become well-rounded citizens.

At Star International School, Mirdif, we are proud to deliver a creative and skills-based approach to teaching, enriched in awe and wonder that incorporates the objectives associated with the British Curriculum.

Steam+

Our STEAM+ programme allows our students to practise the skills found in Maths, Science, Technology, Arts and Engineering, with the + offering just that little bit more - children are provided with many opportunities to explore the latest technology and innovations in and outside the classroom. They plan, prepare and evaluate investigations, which allow them to test particular theories. This could be from looking at floating and sinking, to developing a building that would withstand an earthquake.

We offer a unique cross-curricular approach to our education offering where every project is tactile and unique, and incorporates technology and innovation wherever possible. A recent STEAM+ project for our students was to design a boat that could be used in an emergency to survive a flood out of cardboard and get it to float and sail from one side of our 25 metre swimming pool to the other - no easy feat! But I’m pleased to say that some students accomplished the task, and all children learned a bit more about the real impact of climate change along the way.
